The sudden growth in the number of exploratory wells in the northern and western regions of the state has not gone unnoticed by Gov. Ed Rendell and Rep. Bill DeWeese. But instead of seeing this as an opportunity to bring jobs and resources into Pennsylvania, they see a source of tax revenue to fill a massive state budget deficit caused by years of wasteful overspending.
