U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach, R-6, Chester, said it would be bad policy for Pennsylvania to look at the severance taxes in other states and just pick a tax rate somewhere in between.

If elected governor, Mr. Gerlach said he would veto severance tax legislation if it is not considered in tandem with how other state tax, regulatory and environmental policies affect natural gas companies.
