North Fayette Township is just a few weeks away from its first Marcellus Shale drilling. And it’s likely that the new wells won’t be the last.
Township officials are waiting for the state Department of Environmental Protection to issue permits to Chesapeake Appalachia of Oklahoma City to begin drilling a total of five wells, two in North Fayette and three in neighboring Robinson Township, Washington County. Supervisors in both townships have approved the plans.
